COLONIAL HILLS FOOTBALL KICKS OFF AGAINST LAFAYETTE FRIDAY
CHCS Moves From 11-Man to 8-Man Team
“This team’s motto is effort and attitude,” said Sean Bruce, first-year head coach of the Colonial Hills Christian School Rams football team. Kick-off for the team’s season opener is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the CHCS athletic complex in Lithia Springs.
The Rams come off back-to-back losing seasons and have moved from a traditional 11-man team in the GISA to an 8-man football team as part of the ICSGA.
Coach Bruce, who served as an assistant coach for the team the last two years, calls the 24-man roster “senior-laden” and has high expectations for the team’s 2010 campaign. “The players have really changed their way of doing things. They put God first, and then effort and attitude,” he said.
Other changes of note include a renovated football complex with newly painted stands and goal posts as well a vastly improved field, Bruce said.
Leading the charge on the field are three senior captains, Steven Bankhead (# 28), WR/ILB, Chase Garmon (# 55), OL/DL, and Randall Brown (#12), QB/DB.
“The players have really taken ownership of the team this year,” Coach Bruce said. “We’re looking to the community to come and support the Rams every Friday night for the next 10 weeks.”
The athletic director for CHCS is Pete Johnson. Headmaster is Dr. Wes Smith. For schedule and roster information, visit the Rams’ website at www.chcsathletics.org. The Colonial Hills Christian School website is www.chrams.org .
